Sunny Leone has hit Sri Lankan shores to shoot a follow up to Bollywood cult movie ‘Jism’ (an erotic thriller) which had John Abraham and Bipasha Basu in lead roles, according to various websites.
So, who is Sunny Leone? She’s an Indo-Canadian pornographic actress cum actress, businesswoman and model. Born in Sarnia, Ontario to Indian parents, she was named by Maxim as one of the 12 top porn stars in 2010 and has made cameos in the film ‘The Girl Next Door’ and in Ja Rule’s music video ‘Livin’ It Up.’ Now she’s got her sights set on Bollywood.
In 2011, she appeared on the Indian reality show Bigg Boss, (a not-very-subtle spinoff of Big Brother) as a wildcard entry. Producer-director Mahesh Bhatt entered the house for just a couple of hours as a house guest, presenting Leone with a contract deal to cast her as a lead actress for Jism 2, which she accepted. ‘It was instinct,’ says director Pooja Bhatt about the decision to cast Leone in the role. “I broke the perception that models can’t act with Jism. Now, I am looking forward to break another perception by signing Sunny Leone, a pornstar, in Jism 2.”
Leone has also signed a contract for her second Bollywood film, the sequel to Ekta Kapoor’s Ragini MMS, a 2011 horror movie. “The film’s story is very intriguing. It’s not every day that one comes across such movies in Bollywood.” Leone is quoted as saying in an interview with the Hindustan Times.
An article on Yahoo! OMG! India noted that filmmaker Pooja Bhatt tweeted about flying in to Sri Lanka to shoot the final scenes of Jism 2 with the entire cast on Monday. It was said that Leone also celebrated her 31st birthday while in Sri Lanka on May 13, along with her Jism 2 co-stars.
So what’s the difference between Jism and Jism 2? According to Pooja Bhatt, Jism 2 is for a mature, adult audience. ‘We are looking at raising the bar in every sense – emotionally and sensually. It would be the story of human heart, crime of passion, revenge, betrayal, the same elements that made Jism, with a fresh story,” Pooja has been quoted as saying of the film.
Leone will play Izna, the seductress in a love triangle comprising Randeep Hoonda and Arunoday Singh.
At the same time, Leone is not looking to move out of the adult entertainment industry any time soon. “I don’t see a particular reason to get away from the (porn) industry immediately. If not for the adult film industry, I wouldn’t have been here. I hope people appreciate me in Jism 2 and Ragini MMS 2, and keep me busy with Bollywood,” she says in the Hindustan Times interview.
